Estelle
Senior Analyst, London
Tell us what you get up to every day.
I work as a data analyst, primarily utilising survey data to identify key drivers for client projects or products.
My typical day-to-day involves hands-on analysis of data in SPSS or R, meetings and often some training. When we're in the office, we'll all get food together and catch up at lunchtime. The analysis I do usually involves generating descriptive statistics to understand the data, or if a project is further down the line, then it's a more involved analysis - such as regression modelling or generating Shapley values. Often my day also involves a few calls with members of the team discussing current or new projects, where we are at with them and what the next stages look like.
What do you enjoy about working as a Data Analyst?
I enjoy that my work is tangible - the results are a clear output of your effort. Working here has been extremely positive, and the team are very welcoming. It's easy to reach-out to other members of the team for other opinions or when you're feeling stuck.
How would you describe the culture in your team?
Our team culture is friendly and collaborative. Everyone is keen provide new perspectives or offer their expertise. Our mix of different knowledge backgrounds allows us to combine skills when deciding which form of analysis to utilise, to make the most of our resources.
How have you reached this place in your career?
My degree was in Social Science with Data science, but my first role as a graduate was working in FinTech, as a programmer and client manager. I missed being hands-on with data and my background in social studies drew me to market research and my current role at Kantar.
Since joining the team, I have learnt how to use SPSS, after using R during my studies and PHP/JavaScript at my previous job. I've learnt how to format my results for maximum clarity, making them as easy to interpret as possible.
